I wish I had teachers like this in high school….

After seeing in my Bio page that one of my favorite movies was Dead Poets Society, a bunch of peeps have asked me about it. This clip is one of my favorite scenes (among many others). [Setup]… Ethan Hawke’s character, Todd Anderson, is in his first year at the “Welton Preparatory Academy” (a fictional elite conservative Vermont boarding school, in 1959). He’s extremely shy, and struggles with low self-esteem. Mr. Keating (Robin Williams) is an excellent teacher, slightly left of center, and something of an outcast among his faculty peers—shows him in this scene that he has “a poet in him after-all”. This was the first non-comedic role of Williams (I think), and clearly shows what a range of talent he possessed as an actor.

R.I.P., Robin.
